Cordwainer Smith was the science fiction pen name of Paul M. A. Linebarger, an expert on psychological warfare and China, and my father. I am one of the members of the Cordwainer Smith Foundation, and in 2001, the Foundation created this award. Its purpose is " to focus new light on an important science fiction or fantasy writer whose major work has in recent years fallen into undeserved obscurity."That's a quote from Robert Silverberg, one of our first judges. To find out more about the award and its recipients, click on my name above, and it will take you to the page at my website about Cordwainer Smith that describes the award.
